Our story

Director Konstantin Fam about the idea of creating the movie:

My family is from Kharkiv. My parents are buried there. My sister lives there with her family. Kharkiv is located 40km from the border with Russia. It was attacked by the Russian army in the first hours of the full scale war. The city did not give up and rebuffed the invaders. Immediately after that, they started bombing. My parents' house was destroyed. I called my friend Sergei Solovyov in Ukraine and asked for help. On March 1, 2022, Sergei rushed to Kharkiv and drove my sister's family out of the city center right from the bombardment. They were able to take only their passports with them. When they managed to get out of the city and breathe a sigh of relief, they suddenly realized that there was another empty seat in the car. A place for one more person… On May 6, 2022, after two long months of a grueling road, my sister with her daughter and my childhood friend’s wife with two teenagers and two york terriers reached us in the USA. Husbands stayed in Ukraine... Thousands of kilometers of a long journey by cars, buses, trains, planes. Across several cities of Ukraine and Moldova, Poland, Latvia, Turkey. Everywhere, at every stage, they were helped by many people - a few acquaintances and dozens of strangers. Every day they were provided with food, water, medicines, transport, and a place to sleep. In our film, we will create a logistics scheme and, using the example of my relatives, we will show what an incredible price and amount of effort must be expended in order to save a human life. "Whoever saves one life saves the world entire" (The Talmud)
